On November 14th to 16th, the biannual general assembly of the Pro-Enrich project took place in Valencia (Spain). The event was organised by Nicolás Juste, from ANECOOP together with Jose María Pinilla from NATAC. The purpose of this 6-month meeting was to review the projects progress, to assess the development of the work packages and to design strategies for the following months.T

he Pro-Enrich project aims to develop a flexible biorefinery approach able to process a range of agricultural residues from rapeseed meal, olives, tomatoes and citrus fruit industries in order to help fulfil the growing global demand for alternative sources of protein and phenolic product streams.

During the gathering, the consortium had the opportunity to visit the Janus Fruit’s producing plant and the San Vicente Ferrer of Benaguacil orange producing cooperative , integrated within ANECOOP. In these visits the team was able to see the production processes and understand how organic residues are generated.

On the second day, the consortium was focused on the more administrative aspects of the Pro-Enrich project, which included the meeting of the project’s steering committee, were Work Package leaders discussed the advances on their tasks. One of the main points of this meetings was getting feedback on the Dissemination and Communication actions carried out during the past 6 months by Agro Business Park and Innovarum.

Although the two-day meeting was held under heavy rains and an awful weather that was a surprise especially for the North-European partners, the General Assembly was an overall success: the partners reached understanding in all aspects, they agreed that the project is going as planned, on time and all the attendees were very satisfied with the event.
