Last October 18, Innovarum won the first prize of the ninth edition of the Premio Emprendedoras 2019. This prize is an annual contest organised by the City of Madrid and it seeks to acknowledge original, creative and innovative projects carried out by women.
During the Demo Day of the 18 of October, the 10 finalists presented their projects to a jury of important entrepreneurial personalities in Madrid, as well as to more than 70 attendees. In total, this edition of the Prize received approximately 100 applications.
INNOVARUM was founded in 2014 by the agricultural engineers Maya Hernando and Irene Paredes and it is specialised in industrial innovation in the agri-food sector. Its activity is focused on helping companies and organisations of the agricultural sector in the European Union to participate in public funding to carry out their ambitious innovative projects.
During this process, companies receive a comprehensive and integral support service, from the definition of the idea to the launching of the product / process / service to the market.
Innovarum comes from the need for innovative solutions to the challenges that the agricultural sector is facing nowadays: increase of food demand, limited natural resources or the need for new sustainable production practices. Besides, it supports new technological trends in the sector like the “Agro-tech Revolution“.
“The Agro-tech Revolution is characterised by the application of disruptive technologies to the agri-food sector”
INNOVARUM has grown progressively and steadily since it opened in 2014. In total, it has advised more than 120 projects, 43 of them new projects from 2019. Currently, the company works in 11 countries across the EU and counts with a young and highly qualified team of 7 people.
Unfortunately, not all of them were able to attend the Demo Day (above picture of the team at the day of the event).
“This prize is an acknowledgement to our record and perseverance as well as proof that it is possible to venture and innovate in the agri-food sector from Madrid with an international projection”
